Meet Our Makers
Alejandro
An 7th grade student who made a masterpiece called "Forest Park Falcon". When we asked him what the meaning behind his art was, he answered, "I picked the design I did because it's the most unique one and I'm showing school pride for years, the meaning behind being an achiever, and it represents a model for people to look up too and for success." He also said that he enjoyed the project profoundly. His favorite part was, and I quote,"Us working together... [and] how we got to work together with Mr. Markey and him helping us find our true way."
Maurian & Maria
Two 7th grade students made a masterpiece called "Peace, Growth and Love". We interviewed these lovely ladies about their project and got some amazing answers. They said their project meant, "...world peace, love and growth. We picked this because we wanted peace and love in the world and for us to grow with each other as a country and school." As well as becoming good friends they loved working together.
Oralie & Solcerez
Two 7th grade students made a masterpiece called "Friendship in Middle School, Puerto Rico and the U.S." In their words, "We picked the designs to open up our childhood because the hearts represent our family connected since we were little and in my heart I put the music sign in it because I really love music she put the Puerto Rican flag because of the hurricane that happened there." When we asked them what this project meant to them they responded that they were proud to make something that could represent FPMS.
Taheem & Jamar
Two 7th grade students made a masterpiece called "Lone Wolf". We asked, "during the mosaic project what was the best part of the project for you and why?" "I got to work with my best friend and we work well together." "Why did you pick the design you did? What is the meaning behind it?" "It represents being alone. I came to this world alone and I am alone." "While you were working on your mosaic project describe your emotions." "I was excited, it was fun working with Taheem." "What does being part of the mosaic project experience mean to you?" "Being able to work with someone I'm close with."
Sebastian and Ariana
Two 8th grade students created the design called "Cat in Front of Springfield Skyline." Their response to being asked what is the meaning of their design was, "It means curiosity. The will allow us to explore the environment around us." Both students admired the creativity range of the project and believed that each student worked extremely well together.
Gleiza and Rosa
Two 8th grade students made masterpiece called "Glass Tree". When we asked them what their mosaic design meant they answered, "We chose a tree because it represents nature." They also said that being part of this project made them feel special, and that it made them feel like they rose above the rest of their peers.
Janece and Danasia
Two 8th grade students made the masterpiece called the "African American Girl" were asked what their design meant to them, they responded "To empower black women." Both girls would like to do this project again as they thought it was "creative and fun."
Dayana
An 8th grade student made a masterpiece called "Ying Yang." When asked what was the meaning of her art design she said, "The designs I chose means honesty and forgiveness. Most people would hold a grudge so I wanted to express a way to get past that." She did not have a partner but she said that everyone worked well together, and she would be glad to participate in a project like this again.
Janet and Darlene
Two 8th grade students made the masterpiece called the "Lotus Flower" were asked what their design meant to them, and they said, "We are both from Vietnam and it’s the flower of Vietnam. It means peace." Both partners thought that this project was challenging, but it was fun to work on and it was an honor.
